The Kirkwood Community College men's basketball team is 15-4 and on a seven-game winning streak with contribution from Central High School graduate Bailey Kale.
Kale, a freshman who helped the Red Raiders win a WIAA Division 2 state championship last season, is averaging 7.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists after playing in all 19 games and starting 10 of them.
Kale is shooting 81.3 percent from the free-throw line and 42 percent from the 3-point line for the Eagles, who are ranked 11th nationally.
Kale has averaged 9.4 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game during Kirkwood's winning streak, which includes an 84-62 win over then-No. 7 Iowa Central. Kale scored 19 points on 7-for-9 shooting -- he made 5 of 6 attempts from the 3-point line -- that night.
Kirkwood, which is 4-0 in the ICCAC and located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, plays again Wednesday at Ellsworth Community College.
