Bangor vs.  Independence/Gilmanton

Bangor's Luke Reader finds room to run to the end zone during a game against Independence/Gilmanton during the second round of the playoffs. Reader rushed for 207 yards and three touchdowns Friday night to give Bangor a 30-7 win over Abbotsford and spot in Thursday's WIAA Division 7 championship game against BVlack Hawk (13-0) at Camp Randall Stadium.

The Bangor High School football team is headed to the WIAA Division 7 state championship game for the second time in three seasons.

The Cardinals (13-0) beat Abbotsford 30-7 Friday night behind three touchdown runs by Luke Reader and another by Drew Johnson.

Reader scored on runs of 1, 4 and 22 yards to help Bangor win for the 39th time in 40 games. He finished with 207 yards on 31 carries to lead an offense that gained 345 yards — 318 on the ground.

Bangor scored 16 points in the first half and 14 in the second to take care of Abbotsford (10-3).

The Falcons entered the game averaging 351 rushing yards per game and ended up with 213 total. Abbotsford rushed for 136 yards on 42 attempts.

The Cardinals will play Black Hawk (13-0) — a 56-8 semifinal winner against Fall River — at 10 a.m. Thursday at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison.
