SPARTA — Audrey Mae (Brueggen) Olson, 74, of Sparta passed away peacefully, Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2017, at the Morrow Memorial Home in Sparta.
Audrey was born at home on St. Mary’s Ridge, rural Cashton, to Clarence J. and Marie C. (Hericks) Brueggen, Sept. 11, 1943. When she was three, the family moved to Summit Ridge, one ridge over, on the other side of Monroe County, to the town of Ridgeville. She attended Ridgeville’s one-room school house until going to Tomah to school. After graduation from Tomah High School, Audrey worked for people in their homes providing child care and housekeeping for them. She then went to work at Northern Engraving for 11 years. In the early 1990s she went to work at Handi Shop and this is where she met her future husband, Wayne.
On July 2, 1993, Audrey was united in holy matrimony to Wayne Fredrick Olson. They had a lot of fun together and were both very active in the Eagles Club in Sparta. Audrey was also a member of the St. Patrick’s PCCW. Audrey loved her family and was always interested in the lives of her nieces and nephews.
Audrey is survived by her husband, Wayne; her siblings, Kathy Fanning of Sparta, Stan (Kaye) Brueggen of Onalaska, and Lynda (Gary) Arttus of Onalaska; brother-in-law, George Gallup; her mother-in-law, Louise Olson of Cashton; brother-in-law, Paul Olson of Cashton; along with many loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Marie Brueggen; sisters, Yvonne and Bob Reisinger, Judy Gallup; and brother-in-law, Chuck Fanning.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Sparta. Burial with will follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the church.
