TOMAH — Esther V. Schendel, 90, of Tomah,  passed away Monday, March 25, 2013, at the Tomah Healthcare Center.

She was born June 10, 1922, to Leo and Wanda Schendel in Wilton. Esther was a 1939 graduate of Ontario High School.

Esther worked as a secretary in Madison, for two years before moving back to Tomah, to live with her parents. In her younger years she enjoyed dancing and going to the movies. In later years, she enjoyed doing a variety of activities while she was a resident at Tomah Care Center.

She is survived by her brother, Merlin (June) Schendel of Tomah; four nieces; two nephews; cousins, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Wanda; and an infant brother, Kenneth.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today, March 28, 2013, at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tomah. Pastor David Brandt will officiate. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Tomah. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the church.
