HAMILTON, Mont. — Hazel Burlcane Kelly, 77, of Hamilton passed away suddenly from natural causes Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2018.
She was born June 28, 1940, to Harold and Stella (Everson) Larson in the township of Franklin, Wis. She had six brothers and five sisters, Thomas, James, Dennis, Jerry, Stephen, Gene, Freida, Karen, Sharon, Sandran and Ardeen.
Following graduation from high school, Hazel served in the Navy, raised a family and earned a B.S. from Viterbo University. She enjoyed a successful career as an early childhood educator in La Crosse, Wis. And San Antonio, Texas before accepting a position with the Head Start program of Hamilton, in order to be close to her grandchildren. Upon retirement she was a volunteer for the Grandparents Program with Washington School in Hamilton.
She is survived and will be dearly missed by her ex-husband, Francis; her children, Cynthia (Elijah) Hansen of Darby, Mont., Mary Kelly of Gilbert, Ariz., Estelle (Alynn) Grantham of San Antonio; her grandchildren, Sean, Gabriel, Aaron, Keenan, Kael; great-grandchild, Sadie Mae; and her beloved cat, Luvvy.
Hazel will be laid to rest in Western Montana Veteran’s Cemetery in Missoula, Mont., with military honors at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 29, to be followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. in the chapel at Sapphire Lutheran Homes in Hamilton.
