Joanne “Bunny” Griffin, 86, of Tomah passed away peacefully Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, at the Serenity House in Tomah.

She was born April 4, 1931, five minutes before Easter Sunday, to Harrison and Genevieve (Rosenik) Fiedler.

Joanne was baptized May 17, 1931, from St. Mary’s Church and confirmed April 30, 1946. Throughout her life, Bunny worked at a cranberry marsh and went through beauty school, but the majority of her time was spent as a telephone operator in Tomah. One of her greatest talents was her voice. Schooled by Sister Felecia at an early age, Bunny received numerous singing awards throughout the state. Some of her favorite songs included “Moon River” and “Ava Maria.”

Bunny was an exceptional mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be missed greatly by her family.

Joanne is survived by her children, Katherine Marie (Rick) Collins-Hargis, Kevin David (Angela) Collins, Mark David (Michele) Collins, and Harrison Patrick Griffin; grandchildren, Justin and Genevieve, Kevin Jr. and Joshua, Kimberly (Nate) Cramblit, Mark Jr. and Chad; and great-grandchildren, Hailey, Emilie, Savannah, Kasyn, Marley and Harper; and sisters, Mary (Edward) Fielder-Bunde and Felecia (Duane) Thomas. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tom; and brother, Walter.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 3, at the Queen of the Apostle’s Catholic Church in Tomah. Monsignor Richard Gilles will officiate. Burial will take place 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. beginning with a 3:30 p.m. rosary, Thursday, Nov. 2, at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah. Visitation will also be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass, Friday at the church.
