Nancy O. Plucinski, 84, of Tomah passed away Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017, at the Tomah Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born June 18, 1933, to Corwin F. and Garnet D. (Brey) Budde in Ontario. She was a member of the Lusk High School, Wyoming, class of 1951. After graduating high school, Nancy attended college for a year at the University of Wyoming, pursuing a degree in physical education and proudly participated with the band and a drum majorette. She returned to the Tomah area and began working at Fort McCoy, as a secretary, where Nancy met her future husband, Janusz Plucinski. They were united in marriage April 22, 1953, he preceded her in death. Throughout the years while raising her children, Nancy worked for a variety of local business.
She enjoyed the quiet country life, taking walks with her beloved dogs, feeding the wildlife and enjoying the change of seasons from her front porch. She was an accomplished baker. Her specialty was homemade donuts, bread and cookies.
She is survived by her children, Marina (Tim) Abbott of Tomah and Janusz “John” C. (Jennifer) Plucinski of New Lisbon, Wis.; her grandchildren, Heather (Jesse) Schwingle of Holmen, and their daughter, Sylver Schwingle, Joshua (Lindsey) Abbott of Pine Island, Minn., Ashley Abbott (significant other, Mat Bedford) of Ames, Iowa, Ethan Plucinski and Janusz “Johnny” Plucinski, both of New Lisbon; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Beverly Gnewikow; and a grandson, Myles James Abbott.
A memorial visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until noon, Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home with a committal service to follow at Mount Vernon Cemetery, Tomah. A luncheon will follow the committal service back at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home.
