ROSCOE, Ill. — Roger Williams, 78, of Roscoe died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018, in his home.
He was born May 16, 1939, in Tomah, the son of George W. and Evah L. (Martin) Williams. Roger was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He married Myrtle (Meives) Barrett Sept. 14, 1962, in Paris, Tenn. She predeceased him April 30, 1991.
Roger was formerly employed by Rockford Clutch, Ingersol and retired from Forest City Gear in 2014, after 45 years with the company. He enjoyed cooking and traveling around the country to every state and with his last trip going to Makanda, Ill., to witness the solar eclipse. Roger also enjoyed working on cars, playing and working on slot machines and jukeboxes. Roger was a die hard Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs fan.
Survivors include his son, George Williams of Beloit, Wis.; stepchildren, Kathleen Curren of Peoria, Ill., and William Barrett of Rockford, Ill.; brothers and sisters, Richard (Cheryl) Williams of Tomah, Robert (Rosie) Williams of Gordon, Wis., Janet Bell and Janice Rayburn, both of Tomah; many nieces and nephews; very close friend, Susan Gates of South Beloit, Ill.; and his canine companion and best friend, Cinder.
He was predeceased by his parents; siblings, Gerald, Thomas, George, Gwen Howland and Alice Griffin.
A visitation of remembrance for Roger will be from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit.
Memorials may be given in his name to Beloit Regional Hospice.
