WARRENS — Troy R. Gebhardt, 50, of Warrens died Friday, Jan. 19, 2018, at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, after a long courageous battle with cancer.
He was born Nov. 8, 1967, to Robert and Karen (Knuttila) Gebhardt in Perham, Minn. He was a member of the Tomah Senior High School graduating class of 1987. He worked as a welder for Gebhardt Mfg., and most recently, The Toro Company. He enjoyed riding motorcycle with Sheila. They would put on thousands of miles each year riding with their friends. He enjoyed cooking, and recently had a request for his Swedish meatballs, fishing, most of all the salmon fishing trips to Mishicot, playing on men’s pool league, horseshoe league and metal detecting.
In 1998, Troy met his girlfriend, Sheila. For 19 years Sheila has been his life partner and the love of his life, along with their dog, “Ruby,” his baby girl.
He had a loving, caring, giving heart with an outgoing “quick to make a joke” and pull a prank personality.
He loved the many vacation trips they took. The last one was to Maine, just so they could eat fresh lobster and then drove to Louisiana, so he could meet Shelby Stanga from the Axe Men TV show. He always looked forward to July and going to Rock Fest for the past 19 years with Sheila. He also looked forward to the yearly Bunker Hill Cannon Run, but most of all he loved spending time with his friends and family.
He is survived by his life partner, Sheila; her daughter, Crystal; and granddaughter, Makenda Krebs; his father, Robert L. Gebhardt of Warrens; his mother, Karen M. (Knuttila) Gebhardt, of New Lisbon; his daughters, Caitlin Henry and Payton Rogowski; a sister, Julie Gebhardt, of Tomah; her children, Shayne, Trista, Cassandra, Hope and Hannah McGovern; a half-sister, Stacey Lee Knutson; her children, Brista and Alysha. He is further survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins. special mention, Darren Levey.
He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents; his nephew, Derik McGovern; and his Siberian Husky, “Piper.”
A celebration of life will be held at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 3, at the Log Cabin in Warrens. Family and friends may gather from 1 to 3 p.m. prior to the service. Steve Jorgensen will officiate. Meal to follow with socializing.
