Springtime brings out the musicians at Tomah High School.

Three of the Tomah Area School District’s music groups − Tomah Middle School choir, Tomah High School choir and TMS/THS jazz bands − performed in concerts open to the public last week in the THS auditorium.

On May 7, the middle school presented “TMS on Broadway” with sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grad choirs under the direction of Ilene Quartemont with accompanist Kate Buehner.

On May 8, middle school and high school musicians presented “A Night of Jazz.” The 50-person TMS jazz band was followed by the high school’s Jazz II and Jazz I bands. Joining the bands were two musicians from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Robert Baca on trumpet, and Dr. Michael Shults on saxophone. The jazz bands are under the direction of Katie Prihoda (middle school) and Charlie O’Brien (high school).

On May 10, the high school presented its Spring Concert 2018. The Women’s Choir, Concert Choir and Select Choir are under the direction of Chloe Gorman with Buehner as accompanist.

Two more concerts are ahead. The middle school band concert is Tuesday, May 15 at 7 p.m., and high school band concert is Tuesday, May 22 at 8 p.m.
