Highway N south of Kirkwood Avenue and 1.7 miles south and west of the town hall in Clifton, will be closed to all traffic beginning Tuesday, April 17.

The Monroe County Highway Department said the closure is necessary to replace a deteriorating bridge over a branch of the Little Lemonweir River.

The $252,421 contract to replace the existing structure was awarded to Larson Construction Company of Chippewa Falls. The project is funded by Monroe County and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

Advance notice signs will be posted but no detour route will be marked.

The new bridge, a 40-foot long single-span concrete structure, is expected to be completed and the highway re-opened by early June.
