A Manhattan, Kansas, man was rendered unconscious after a Nov. 20 crash in the town of Portland.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office was called to a rollover on Highway 33 in the town of Portland, where a Honda CRV driven Timothy D. Morford, 23, failed to negotiate a curve and left the road. The vehicle rolled several times before striking a power pole and coming to rest on its side.

Morford was found unconscious in the vehicle and had to be extricated with the Jaws of Life. Med-Link Air was called and landed at the site, but Morford was transported by ambulance to Gundersen Hospital in La Crosse.

Speed and alcohol are suspected to be factors in the crash. Assisting the sheriff’s office and Med-Link Air were the Cashton Fire Department, Cashton First Responders, Tri-State Ambulance Service, and Monroe 911 Communications Center. The crash remains under investigation by the sheriff’s department.
