The Tomah High School junior varsity volleyball team ended the season as a competitive squad in the Mississippi Valley Conference.
After finishing the season with a 6-6 record, Tomah went 1-2 at the MVC tournament Oct. 16 and finished fourth out of seven teams.
The team also finished fourth in the Sparta Invitational and second in a Tomah Quadrangular that included Galesville Ettrick Trempealeau, Mauston and Eau Claire Regis.
Coach Susie Weber said her squad, all but two of whom were freshmen, made significant progress during the season.
“Over the season, the girls really grew as a team and accomplished great things,” Weber said. “Most of them came into the season not knowing each other − some from other cities and states − and a few who had never played volleyball before.”
She said members of the team continued to work hard, win or lose.
“Throughout the season they continued to improve and believed in themselves even when there were times of struggle,” Weber said. “I look forward to watching this group of girls as they continue their high school volleyball career over the next few years.”
Members of the team were juniors Marcella Garcia and Nyah Toilolo and freshmen Savannah Blackhawk, Madelyn Rockwell, Lindsay Murdock, Mackenzie Keller, Allyson Christensen, Siryn Schindler, Karen Musito, Abby Nick, Emmalyn Koboski, Skyler Anderson, Lillianah Tejeda, Emma Powless, Marissa Moser and Annie Waltemath.
