Four Tomah wrestlers took first place at the seven-team Thunderbird Classic at Baraboo High School Friday.
Dawson Lambert (113), Cody Zimmerman (120), Marques Fritsche (160) and Angel Burkhalter (220) finished atop their weight classes in the round-robin event.
Lambert needed just two victories to prevail in his weight class. He won by pin and technical fall against a pair of wrestlers with a combined 26-13 record. Lambert boosted his record to 25-2.
Zimmerman won all three of his matches by pin to run his record to 11-3. Two of his opponents had winning records.
Fritsche won four matches to claim his title. He got a pin and two technical falls before defeating Garrett Ison (19-8) of Edgerton 10-4 in the decisive match. Fritsche’s record improved to 20-6.
Burkhalter won three of his four matches and claimed the title on a tiebreaker over Edgerton’s Reed Farrington (20-8) and Baraboo’s Tyson Fry (18-9). Burkhalter pinned Farrington and lost to Fry 6-4. Burkhalter’s record is 15-11.
Tomah’s other placewinners:

- Third—Caden Griffin (106), Nate Boulton (126), Travis Von Haden (152), Seth Carlson (170) and Kaden Hericks (195).
- Sixth—Brayden Bemis (132).
The Timberwolves didn’t have entries at 138, 145 or 285.
Baraboo amassed 175.5 points to take first place by nine points over Edgerton, which edged third-place Tomah by a point.
