Trevor Shutter made a shot late in regulation to force overtime and lifted Tomah to a 79-71 victory at La Crosse Logan in a Mississippi Valley Conference boys basketball contest Friday.

It was the MVC opener for both teams. Tomah improved to 3-1 overall, while Logan fell to 3-2.

Tomah dominated the overtime, outscoring Logan 15-7. The Timberwolves jumped out to an early 20-5 lead, but Logan roared back and sliced the margin to 36-33 by halftime. Four Tomah players hit double figures, led by Josh Dahlke with 24 points. Peter Brey scored 19, Trey Gnewikow had a career-high 17, and Shutter finished with 12.

The Timberwolves return home to host Holmen in an MVC contest Thursday. Varsity tipoff is 7:15 p.m.
