Tomah produced four champions and scored the most pins among the 10 teams at Saturday’s junior varsity wrestling invitational held at Tomah High School.

Team scores weren’t kept, but Tomah wrestlers finished the afternoon with 26 pins. Baraboo was next with 20.

Joining Tomah and Baraboo in the tournament were La Crosse Logan/La Crosse Central, Mauston, Neillsville/Greenwood/Loyal, Nekoosa/Wisconsin Rapids Assumption/Port Edwards, Onalaska/Onalaska Luther, Sauk Prairie and Wisconsin Dells.

Tomah wrestlers were victorious in 34 of 51 matches. Four wrestlers won individual titles for the Timberwolves.

Brody Foss claimed a title at 120 pounds by defeating teammate Hayden Peters 8-2 in the championship match.

Isaac Klema won the 152 division with a 5-4 decision over Dawson Bryant of Holmen in the title match.

At 170, Jairon Pierce executed two first-period pins en route to finishing first.

Colby Von Haden pinned all three of his opponents to claim first in the 195 class.

Other Tomah placewinners were:

  • Second—Peters, Adam Osmond (132), Thor Lass (160) and Willie Bowie (220/285).
  • Third—Dakota Myers (138), James Kelley (195).
  • Fourth—Charles Lisi (132), Austin Arttus (145), Brock Greathouse (170).
  • Seventh—Brandon Betthauser (182).

The jayvees compete in the Mississippi Valley Conference tournament Monday, Feb. 5 at Sparta High School starting at 5:30 p.m. They wrap up the 2017-18 campaign Thursday, Feb. 8 with a trip to the Wisconsin Rapids Invitational.
