The Tomah High School wrestling team will send 11 competitors to the WIAA Division 1 Waunakee Sectional. The wrestlers qualified by finishing in the top four at Saturday’s Regional in Baraboo.

Dawson Lambert was Tomah’s lone Regional champion. He defeated Kody Klenecki of Holmen 10-2 in the championship match at 113 pounds.

Tomah’s other qualifiers were:

  • Third—Caden Griffin (106), Travis Von Haden (145), Marques Fritsche (160), Jairon Pierce (170), Kaden Hericks (195), Angel Burkhalter (220)
  • Fourth—Cody Zimmerman (120), Nate Boulton (126), Owen Walters (132), Hayden Larson (285).

It was the final meet of the season for Connor Von Haden (182) and Braden Bemis (138). Von Haden finished fifth, and Bemis was sixth.

Holmen won the team competition and will advance to the team Sectional Tuesday at Verona.

Team scores: Holmen 282.5, Sparta 188.5, Baraboo 178, Tomah 166, Reedsburg 107, La Crosse Logan/La Crosse Central 88, Portage 74, Onalaska/Onalaska Luther 51.5.

The Waunakee Sectional starts at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 17 at Waunakee High School. The top two individuals advance to the state meet in Madison Feb. 22-24.
