Anna Marie (Lisa) Løkke Reser, was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Dec. 19, 1932, to Morten Fredrik Løkke and Marie (Tulla) Carlsen Løkke. She passed away Monday, Oct. 16, 2017.
In the Spring of 1933, her parents immigrated back to Bodø, Norway. She was raised on a dairy farm on Lake Soløya in the Bodin Community. She credited her strong humanitarian leanings to the influence of her experiences as a child living in an occupied country during World War II. In her youth she was very active in 4H and other Norwegian agricultural organizations. It was through leadership positions in 4H that she came to the U.S. on an exchange program. During her exchange experience in Colorado, a young local boy named Robert Reser purchased her pie at a community pie social. After six years of letter exchanges they were married in August of 1962, in Bodin Kirke in Bodø, Norway. They lived in Fairbanks, Alaska, Spokane, Wash., and Cary, Ill., before settling on a beef farm in Readstown.
She was a social person and quickly became involved in many local organizations. She was a member of Kickapoo United Lutheran Church. She loved travel, music, literature, nature, history, animals, national politics and sharing a strong cup of coffee and food with family and friends. She fed and welcomed everyone, both two legged and four, into her home. She was a staunch supporter of food cooperatives, particularly the co-ops in Viola and Viroqua. She was a very active in her local community and remained strongly connected to her Norwegian roots. Although she remained a proud Norwegian citizen her entire life, she was fiercely patriotic to both countries. She closely followed politics and was a lifelong liberal.
She is survived by her children, Ingunn (Lars Fredriksen) Reser of Downers Grove, Ill., Morten (Teresa Zart) Reser of Readstown, Kristina (Rich Jaynes) Reser-Jaynes of Readstown, and Roberta (Knut) Kjos of Mogriena, Norway; grandchildren, Espen Fredriksen, Michael Eitland, Karl Fredriksen, Maren Reser, Zoe Fredriksen, Morten L.
