JANESVILLE, Wis.—- Frederick F. Adams, 85, of Janesville died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017, at Agrace Center for Hospice & Palliative Care, Janesville.
He was born Feb. 11, 1932, in Soldiers Grove, Wis., the son of Lewis and Beryl (Briggs) Adams. He was raised in Vernon County and after graduating from Soldiers Grove High School, he joined the U. S. Navy, serving four years. Fred then attended UW-La Crosse and graduated in 1958. Aug. 4, 1954, he married Diane E. Coy, and after 58 years of marriage she preceded him in death Feb. 18, 2014. In 1958, they moved to Janesville where Fred taught in the Janesville School System for 30 years. He belonged to several local organizations including Kiwanis, Elks Club, and Meals on Wheels. He was very active doing community volunteer work during his retirement. Fred also enjoyed golf, slow pitch softball, bowling and reading.
He is survived by his children, Laurie Adams of Janesville and Scott (Wendy) Adams of Huntington, Ind.; grandchildren, Jordan (Lyndsey) Adams and Courtney Adams both of Huntington; special niece, Brenda (Mike) Sherry; and other extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lewis Adams; mother, Beryl (Archie) Appleman; wife, Diane Adams; and sisters, Marjorie (Adrian) Hoffland and Mary Lou Adams.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 8, 2017, at Cargill United Methodist Church with the Rev. Stu Allen officiating. A visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 8, 2017, at the church. Interment will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
