FERRYVILLE — Norma Mae (Page) Johnston, 91, of rural Ferryville passed away peacefully in her sleep Monday morning, Jan. 1, 2018, at Prairie Maison Nursing Home in Prairie du Chien.
She was born June 19, 1926, in Victory to Elmer and Tressa “Tracy” Page (Haas). She graduated from Lansing High School and worked as a secretary at Bump Pump in La Crosse. On Sept. 6, 1947, she married Robert Johnston at the Bad Axe Lutheran Church. Together they operated the Johnston Family Food Store in Ferryville, for over 50 years. Bob and Norma met at Elmer’s dance hall in Ferryville, after the war and enjoyed dancing for their 66 years of marriage. Norma was a wonderful cook, dancer, and card player. Her family was very dear to her and she enjoyed the pitter-patter of the grandchildren’s feet in her house.
Norma is survived by her three daughters, Susan (Don) Smith of The Villages, Fla., Kathy Johnston of Prairie du Chien and Jarilyn (Jon) Allen of Oconomowoc, Wis. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Robin (Karl) Mueller, Jessica (Donald) Thompson, Jodi (Chad) Batzer. Cody (Chanda) Allen; and five great-grandchildren, Alexandra Mueller, Alaina Mueller, Logan Thompson, Addison Batzer and Raya Thompson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her sister, Kathleen (Toots) Schultz; her brother, Jack Paggi; and her parents.

Funeral services to be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, at Freeman Lutheran Church with Pastor Lori Kleppe officiating.
