VIOLA — Susan B. Kanable, 62, of Viola passed away Monday, Oct. 23, 2017, at the Gunderson Health System in La Crosse.
She was born Nov. 17, 1954, in Richland Center, the daughter of Robert and Jessie (Benson) Kinsey. She married Kent Kanable Aug. 9, 1996.
Susan was a life long teacher, working at the Kickapoo School District for all of her career as a Title I Reading and Math teacher. She retired from teaching in June 2017. Susan enjoyed gardening, reading, collecting antiques, watching classic movies, walking her dogs and the simple things in life.
In addition to her husband, Kent, survivors include her sisters ,Judy (Charles) Gochenaur and Carolyn (Brad) Steinmetz; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dane (Terri) Kanable, Tammy (Rick) Simonson and Kristi (Randy) Mikkelson; and nephews and nieces; Gregg (Deanna) Gochenaur, Ryan (Kelli) Gochenaur, Jason (Anne Marie) Kanable, David Kanable, James Gratz, and Kelly (Shane) Blodgett. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 27 at the Viola United Methodist Church with Bonita Dorschied officiating. Burial was at the Viola Cemetery.
Memorials may be given in Susan’s memory to the Kickapoo Valley Rescue Squad of Viola and the Bland-Bekkedal Hospice House of Viroqua.
