McIntosh Memorial Library of Viroqua has been nominated for a 2018 National Medal of Honor from the Institute of Museum and Library Services in Washington, D.C. U.S. Rep. Ron Kind from the 3rd Congressional District nominated the library.

The National Medal honors outstanding libraries and museums that contribute significantly to the well-being of their communities. Selected institutions demonstrate extraordinary and innovative approaches to public service, exceeding the expected levels of community outreach.

“The library remains a viable community resource for kids and adults,” Kind said.

The winners will be contacted in spring of 2018, and will be honored at a National Medal award ceremony held in Washington, D.C.

The McIntosh Memorial Library was also nominated for the 2017 Library of the Year award presented by the Wisconsin Library Association. The award is given to a library that has demonstrated outstanding contributions to libraries and librarianship.
