The following accidents were reported by the Vernon County Sheriff’s Department for the week ending Jan. 8.
1-3 April Rasmussen, De Soto, was traveling east on Hwy. 82 in the town of Sterling. Rasmussen lost control on the snow-covered road, crossed the centerline, left the road, and struck an embankment. No injuries were reported.
1-3 Kaila Britton, Kendall, was traveling east on Hwy. F in the town of Whitestown. Britton failed to negotiate a curve on the slippery road. The vehicle traveled over an embankment and struck a rock. The accident happened on Jan. 2, but was not reported until the next day.
1-3 Kirstin Miller, Cashton, was traveling east on Hwy. P in the town of Clinton. Miller was negotiating a curve and lost control of the vehicle due to the snow-covered road. Miller crossed the centerline, went into a ditch, and struck several small trees. Miller received possible injuries, but was not transported to the hospital at the time of the crash.
1-3 Nichelle Skrupky-Nelson, Viroqua, was traveling east on Hwy. 14 in the town of Coon. A deer collided with the vehicle on the passenger side. Skrupky-Nelson reported injures, was evaluated by EMS at the scene and was taken to the hospital by a private vehicle.
1-5 Havin Rehwinkel, Holmen, was traveling west on Hwy. P in the town of Clinton, when the vehicle’s front passenger side tire broke, disabling the vehicle’s travel. No injuries occurred.
1-8 There were eight reportable car/deer crashes: Kimberly Mann, De Soto, on Worman Road, town of Genoa; Susannah Gjefle, Ontario, on Hwy. 33, town of Forest; Marlene Boehm, Stoddard, on Hwy. K, town of Bergen; Todd Curti, Genoa, on Hwy. 35, town of Genoa; Heather Christianson, Cashton, on Hwy. P, town of Christiana; Amber Peterson, La Farge, on Hwy. 82, town of Stark; John Stolzman, Richland Center, on Hwy. 33, town of Hillsboro; James Urbanek, Chaseburg, on Hwy. K, town of Bergen.
