The 2017 varsity Driftless United Futbol soccer team ended the season undefeated. Their 18 win/one tie record includes 10 shutouts, outscoring their opponents 81 to 12, and taking first place in three tournaments, including the Eagle Quad held in Richland Center Oct. 21. This season also saw Driftless United Futbol hosting its first-ever quad tournament, thanks to the new soccer field west of Viroqua Area Schools’ football stadium.

The varsity team has 12 graduating seniors; there are two strong rising U14 teams that will have many players entering high school in 2018.

Next up for area soccer fans is Futsal. Futsal is fast-paced soccer played indoors on a basketball court. The sport develops foot skills and technique and is a way to improve overall soccer ability. The season begins in November with games each Sunday at Viterbo University in La Crosse.
