Four Viroqua wrestlers kept their undefeated season records intact in a Coulee Conference dual at G-E-T/ Melrose-Mindoro, Thursday, Dec. 14, but the team suffered their worst lost of the year by a final score of 55-15.
Freshman Cale Anderson kept his record clean at 12-0 with a 17-2 technical fall coming at the end of the second period at 106 over Kohl Linberg. Sophomore Josh Frye also ran his season opening winning streak to 12, with a 9-3 decision at 113 over G-E-T/M-M’s Colton Sime.
Senior Ryan Hannah returned to action after missing the Tomah Scramble to stay unbeaten after seven matches at 145, with a 5-0 win over Jacob Summers. Younger brother Tyler Hannah, a sophomore, extended his undefeated record to 11-0, with a 14-4 major decision over William Johnson at 170.
Senior Casey Leer saw his record slip to 10-2 this season after a hard-fought 7-5 loss to G-E-T/M-M’s Jack Purney at 132, in the most competitive match of the night. Freshman Aaron Dobbs was the only other Blackhawk to avoid a pin, battling his through his 138-pound bout to a 9-1 loss at the hands of Hunter Anderson of G-E-T/M-M.
