The De Soto girls basketball team heads into the season with a new coach who says the girls have a positive attitude.
“The girls I have met have a great attitude and I think they will be as good as they want to (be),” said first-year coach Kevin Conley, who noted positive attitudes and discipline on the court will be goals during the 2017-18 season.
The team, which had a 6-17 record last season, lost four starters to graduation and has six returning players, including a point guard.
“(The returning players) should contribute to what successes we accomplish,” Conley said. “I hope to see strengths at all positions.”
The Pirates compete in the Ridge and Valley Conference, and Conley said Seneca is the top contender for the conference title. “Hopefully we finish higher than last season,” he said.
Conley is assisted by Alexandria Achammer.
The team has two home games under their belt; they hosted Cashton Nov. 21 and La Farge Nov. 28. They traveled to North Crawford Nov. 30.
