MENOMONIE, Wis. — Carol S. Kopp passed away Friday, Nov. 24, 2017, at her home outside of Menomonie.
She was born Dec. 27, 1957, to Wayne and Marian Reed in Viroqua. On April 16 of 1983, she married Jeffrey Kopp and the couple resided in Ettrick, working the family’s dairy farm. To visitors delight, there was always a litter of identical kittens running around as she bred and sold Siamese cats. They soon had three children who kept them quite busy, Cassandra and Christian (1984) and Emily (1986). In spring of 1992, the family purchased another farm and moved a couple hours away to Menomonie.
All who knew Carol were aware of her spunk, creativity, and love of her kitties and coffee. She enjoyed working on home improvement and furniture design projects and always had something up her sleeve for thrifted or upcycled pieces. If you couldn’t reach her by phone on the weekends, the safe assumption is that she’d (willingly) dragged her loving husband to Eau Claire, for yet another Menard’s run. Recently she earned the title of grandmother, three times over in the span of a year. All three of this new generation who she loved dearly, share their grandma’s love of kitties, proving that the crazy cat lady gene does in fact, skip a generation.
She is survived by her husband, Jeff; daughters, Cassandra (Oscar) and Emily; son, Christian (Sophia); three grandchildren; and six older and loving sisters, Cora, Teresa, Julie, Janet, Pat, Vicky; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Dale; and parents, Wayne and Marian.
She will be missed more than words can express.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie.
