JEFFERSON/FORT ATKINSON, Wis. — Charlene J. Garcia, 77, of Jefferson, formerly Fort Atkinson passed away Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, Wis.

She was born Dec. 7, 1939, at Westby, the daughter of the late Leo and Darlene (Eitland) Ostrem.

Charlene married Richard Garcia Dec. 8, 1967, in Chicago. He died Jan. 27, 2007.

She was a graduate of the Westby High School and then attended Junior College for two years, where she received an associate degree.

Charlene was employed by the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad in Chicago, as a payroll clerk until retirement.

She then was employed by UW-Whitewater in the payroll department.

Later she worked as a church secretary, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fort Atkinson and most recently at the Fireside Restaurant and Playhouse in the box office department.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fort Atkinson.

Survivors include her children, Richard of Fort Mill, S.C., Vanessa (Jay) Leonard of Jefferson; grandchildren, Christopher, Jacob and Hannah Holmes; siblings, Steven (Gayle Solheim) Ostrem and Susan Ostrem, both of Minnesota.

Also preceding in death was a son, Christopher; and brother, Lauren Ostrem.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 8, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fort Atkinson, with the Rev. David Ernest officiating.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, at the Coon Prairie Cemetery at Westby.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, at the Dunlap Memorial Home in Fort Atkinson and after 10 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the church.
