Norma L. Sandsnes, 99, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017, at Bethel Nursing Home in Viroqua.

Norma was born May 13, 1918, in Wild Rose, N.D., to Hans and Martha Kallestad. She moved with her family to Mauston, Wis., in 1921 and then to New Lisbon, Wis., in 1934. She moved to Cashton, and graduated from Cashton High School in 1936. She completed cosmetology school in Eau Claire, Wis., and some years later opened her beauty shop in Cashton.

She was married to Erling (Sandy) Sandsnes in Cashton, in 1944. They were members of Cashton Trinity Church.

Norma is survived by her daughter, Rebecca (John) of Las Vegas; one grandson, Adam Schwartz; one sister, Selma Nelson; one brother, Robert; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Norma was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; twin sisters; and her grandson, Cory Schwartz.

Norma will be fondly remembered for her many years of support to the Cashton community and for her dedication to Trinity Church.

A memorial service for Norma was held at 11 a.m. June 2, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cashton. Burial followed in the Moen Cemetery, Cashton, in the Sandsnes family plot. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred for Cashton Trinity Lutheran Church or the Bethel Home in Viroqua. The Torkelson Funeral Home of Cashton is assisting the family with arrangements
