Coon Valley Lion Curt Horman was awarded the “Melvin Jones Fellowship” by Past District Governor Cedric Veum. This is the highest award presented from the Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF) for exceptional service and dedication to club projects.

He was presented with the Melvin Jones Fellowship plaque, plus a special lapel pin and a letter from (LCIF) dignitaries. Horman’s name will be added to the list of Melvin Jones Award recipients on display at the LCIF headquarters in Oak Brook, Illinois.

LCIF funds are used to address humanitarian needs throughout the world such as medical assistance, disaster relief and others that exemplify the Lions motto, “We Serve”.

Horman has worked with the Coon Valley Christmas Tree Food Pantry program, Deer Hides for Lions Camp project, the Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin project, local Highway Cleanup project and numerous other programs with the Coon Valley Lions Club.

In Wisconsin, LCIF funding is also used for Lions Camp, Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin and the cameras used in the widespread vision screening programs for students in local schools.

Other Coon Valley Lions members who are previous Melvin Jones recipients and helped present the award were Cedric Veum, Ron Hoff, Richard Brose and Rod Erlandson.
