On Saturday, July 29, the Westby Area Historical Society (WAHS) hosted its 2nd Annual “Sweet Rides and Sweet Pies” event in Westby. According to WAHS Officer Kathy Anderson the weather was wonderful, the treats were great, the music was good, and the 22 vehicles that participated were amazing.
“Visitors wandered the grounds looking at, inside, and under-the-hood of the many classics, trucks, and muscle cars that came for the “drive in” event,” Anderson said.
James and Nancy Seitz won the coveted “Sweet Rides” rosemaled pie plate trophy and a whole homemade pie. The Seitz drove a red 1945 IHC truck. The plate was painted by Karen Hankee.
Board member Garland McGarvey also brought his race car simulator for all ages to have some fun checking out and Anderson had fun snapping photographs to document the event.
In addition attendees had a wonderful time taking Thoreson House tours; eating pie with ice cream; sipping on a root beer float; while others just relaxed on the porch, visiting with friends. Plans for next year’s event are already underway.
