The following accidents were reported by the Vernon County Sheriff’s Department for the week ending Feb. 5.

1-29 Kay’C Bingham, Viola, was driving south on Kelbel Road, town of Clinton, and struck a horse and Amish buggy owned by Joseph Herschberger, Westby. The horse was not tied up, ran off the property, and headed north on Kelbel Road. The buggy was damaged, and the horse had a cut on its chest. Bingham’s vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. She reported no injuries.

1-30 Weston Kabat, Westby, was traveling eastbound on Old Line Road, town of Coon. Kabat crested the top of a hill and hit a small part of snow causing him to fishtail and lose control of the vehicle. The vehicle crossed the centerline, overcorrected, and crossed the centerline again. Kabat’s vehicle entered the westbound ditch, rolled twice, and came to rest on its wheels. Kabat reported no injuries, but the vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.

2-1 Sharice Elbert, Cashton, was driving on Dahlen Road, town of Christiana, when she lost control of her vehicle while negotiating a curve. Elbert’s vehicle left the roadway, struck a utility pole, and came to rest on the roadway. Elbert reported no injuries. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.

2-3 Robert Cary, La Crosse, was traveling south on Missel Road, town of Wheatland, when he took a curve too fast. Cary’s vehicle left the roadway, traveled through a ditch, and struck a tree. No injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.

2-3 Sammi Cook Kuehn, White Bear Lake, Minnesota, was driving northbound on Hwy. 131, town of Stark, when she struck a deer. Cook Kuehn’s vehicle left the road and came to rest approximately 100 feet off the road. No injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.

2-3 A snowplow struck a horse owned by Eli Miller on Hwy. K, Village of Stoddard. The horse got out of the pasture through an open gate. It was dispatched by Miller due to its injuries.

2-3 Greta Bender, Elroy, was traveling on Hwy. F, town of Hillsboro. Bender attempted to stop at the intersection with Hwy. WW, but because of snow-covered roads, Bender went through the intersection, over an embankment, and struck a fence coming to rest in a pasture. Bender reported minor injuries.

2-3 Samantha Barr, Norwalk, was attempting to make a right-hand turn on Hwy. 33, village of Ontario. Mark Mustio, Viroqua, was traveling behind Barr and was going to pass Barr’s vehicle. Barr decided to not make the turn, continued east, and struck the front end of Mustio’s vehicle. No injuries were reported. Barr’s vehicle was towed, but Mustio’s vehicle was drivable.

2-3 Michael Amundson, Stoddard, was driving west on Hwy. 14 when his vehicle slid on icy roads and struck a guardrail. No injuries were reported.

2-4 Patrick Leis, Westby, was traveling downhill on Pa’s Road, town of Clinton. Only half of the road was plowed. Leis drifted into the unplowed section and lost control. The vehicle slid off into the ditch, down an embankment, and into a tree. Leis reported no injuries, but the vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.

2-5 There were two reportable car/deer crashes: David Mellem, Westby, on Mathison Road, town of Coon; Paul Vina, Viroqua, on Hwy. 27,  town of Franklin.
