The following accidents were reported by the Vernon County Sheriff’s Department for the week ending Dec. 18.
12-11 Kasey Engen, Viroqua, was traveling northbound on Nottingham Road, town of Jefferson, and lost control on the snow-covered road. The vehicle left the road, struck the ditch, and overturned onto its roof. Engen received minor suspected injuries and was transported to the hospital by a private vehicle. The vehicle had disabling damage.
12-11 Daniel Turben, De Soto, was traveling north on Hwy. N, town of Sterling, and lost control while negotiating a curve to the left. The vehicle went off the right side of the roadway, struck the edge of an embankment and traveled down a slight embankment. The vehicle struck some small trees. Turben did not report any injuries.
12-11 Ralph Hendrickson, Viroqua, was traveling north on snow-covered Hwy. J, town of Franklin, came out of a curve to the right, crossed to the left side of the roadway, and onto the shoulder of the road. The vehicle traveled back across the road, and went off the right side of the road into a shallow ditch. The vehicle came to a rest atop a concrete drainage box culvert. Hendrickson did not have any apparent injuries. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.
12-14 Ivy Rose Rhomberg, La Crosse, was traveling east on Hwy. K, town of Bergen. Rhomberg was attempting to turn left, but the sun was in her eyes. Rhomberg failed to see the oncoming semi-truck and trailer traveling west. Rhomberg struck the trailer by the back dual-tires. The semi was operated by John Solum, Genoa. No injuries were reported.
12-15 Kailyn Myers-Kemerling, Viroqua, was traveling east on Tri State Road, town of Viroqua, lost control of the vehicle, hit a utility pole, and came to a rest facing westbound in the ditch. No injuries occurred. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.
12-16 Larry Fay, Janesville, was negotiating a curve, eastbound on Hwy. F, town of Forest. Due to the road conditions, the vehicle started to slide, hit the gravel on the shoulder of the road and struck the embankment, which caused the truck to roll. Fay reported no injuries at the time of the crash. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.
12-18 There were three reportable car/deer crashes: Jeremy Struemke, Chaseburg, on Brinkman Ridge Road, town of Hamburg; Randy Schlicht, Chaseburg, on Hwy. K, town of Hamburg; Jessica Slack, Soldiers Grove, on Hwy. 27, town of Franklin.
