The following accidents were reported by the Vernon County Sheriff’s Department for the week ending March 5.

3-1 Craig Chapman, Hillsboro, was traveling south on Hwy. 131 in the town of Whitestown when three cows crossed the highway. One of the cows struck Chapman’s vehicle, causing functional damage. It was determined the cows belonged to David Gnewikow, Ontario. Chapman reported no injuries. The cow did not sustain life-threatening injuries.

3-2 Darwin Schuette, De Soto, was driving south on Will Kumlin Road in the town of Wheatland and swerved to miss a deer running off a hillside. Schuette’s vehicle traveled down an embankment striking the other side of the ditch causing damage to the front of his vehicle. Schuette reported no injuries.

3-5 There were nine reportable car/deer crashes: Tracey Wheeler, Readstown, on Hwy. 14, town of Viroqua; Teresa Nundahl, Westby, on Hwy. 14, town of Hamburg; Alec Meurer, Coon Valley, on Hwy. 162, town of Hamburg; Lorn Goede, Viroqua, on Hwy. 162, town of Hamburg; Geoffrey Lenser, Coon Valley, on Hwy. 14, town of Hamburg; Matthew Meskan, Janesville, on Hwy. 82, town of Stark; Oscar Gudgeon, La Farge, on Hwy. 82, town of Webster; Angel Hanson, Viroqua, on Hwy. 56, town of Liberty; Ann Miller, La Farge, on Hwy. 14, town of Coon.
