The following accidents were reported by the Vernon County Sheriff’s Department for the week ending Aug. 7.
7-31 Jason Kennedy, Ontario, was operating a manure tanker truck, east on Hwy. ZZ, in the town of Forest. When Kennedy rounded the corner the left rear dual tires detached from the axel striking an oncoming vehicle, operated by James Rynes, Ontario. No injuries were reported.
8-2 Shane Hazelton, Strum, was pumping gas at the Coon Valley Kwik Trip when Karyn Wehrs, Bangor, backed out of her parking stall and struck the Hazelton truck. No injuries were reported.
8-3 Steven Marquardt, Altoona, was traveling west on Hwy. 82, town of Webster, when he swerved to miss a semi, which was rounding a curve and encroached on the wrong side of the centerline. Marquardt struck the guardrail to avoid a head-on collision. No injuries were reported.
8-7 There were five reportable car/deer crash Peter Gudgeon, La Farge, Hwy. 82, town of Webster; Lu Ann Schmidt, Viroqua, Old Hwy. 14, town of Viroqua; Sandra Powell-Trollop, Mineral Point, Hwy. 14, town of Coon; Andrew Hefel, Hillsboro, Hwy. C, town of Greenwood; Linda Lockington, De Soto, Newton Road, town of Harmony.
Sheriff John Spears said that area businesses phone numbers are being hacked. The two reported businesses thus far include Vesbach Oil and La Farge Zzip Stop. Spears reminds callers be aware and prepared when answering calls from any unknown callers.
