The Westby High School class of 1957 held its 60th reunion at Old Towne Inn in August. Before dining the 24 classmates who attended the event toured their alma-mater. The tour was set up by Lincoln Halvorson and his son, Kenneth.

Attending the event were Roger Kuester, Hames Onshus, Margie (Olson) Bjornstad, Rachel (Bjornstad) Berg, Richard Brose, Marilyn (Rumsey) Burke, Larry Dale, Lorraine (Bakkum) Dunnum, Jeanne (Nelson) Elbi, Lincoln Halvorson, Shirley (Buros) Hanson, Linda (Hendrickson) Holte, Allen Kanable, Raymond King, Betty (Volden) Koenen, Elmer Ofte, Eldon Perkins, Terry Schultz, Dennis Strangstalien, Marlow Thompson, Sharon (Skundberg) Voldahl, Susan (Shields) Zimmerman, Louise (Taylor) VonRuden, and Zenda (Synsteby) Beeching.

A prayer was said honoring the 19 classmates who have passed away and for those classmates not able to attend the reunion. Everyone attending had a great time reminiscing and telling stories about what they have been doing in their retirement years. They passed the hat and collect $250 which was divided and donated to the Norse Fund and the Westby Area Fine Arts Foundation.

This year’s reunion committee consisted of Betty Koenen, Rachel Berg, Eldon Perkins and Lincoln Halvorson. The class of 1957 will meet again in the year 2020, when classmates turn 80 years young.
