Westby's Bjorn Leum (145 pounds) quickly pinned Lukas Beck of Aquinas in 19 seconds.

Westby traveled to West Salem on Jan. 9 and hosted the Norsemen Duals on Jan. 13

Earlier in the week, the Norsemen fell to West Salem 38-21 and placed third at the Westby Duals over the weekend. A total of six teams (Lancaster, Riverdale, Aquinas, Nekoosa/Assumption/Port Edwards, Brookwood, and Westby) competed in Westby last Saturday. Lancaster won the event with 292 points team points.

In Round 1, Westby defeated Brookwood 48-30. Both teams forfeited four matches. Westby forfeited at weights 182, 195, 220 and 285. Brookwood forfeited matches at 126, 145, 152 and 170. Westby won three matches by fall at 113, 120 and 132. The Norsemen also won two matches by decision at 106 and 138.

106—Trevor Lemke defeated Jacob Green by decision 14-9.

113—Logan Turben pinned Jadin Atha in 1:04.

120—Dallas Geier pinned Roberto Mendoza in 2:56.

132—Dakota Bakkestuen pinned Jimmy Barlow in 5:41.

138—Austin Mowery defeated James Gjefle by decision 8-5.

In Round 2, Riverdale defeated Westby 43-27. Westby forfeited at four weights 182, 195, 220 and 285. Riverdale forfeited one match at 113. Westby won one match by fall at 145; one match by decision at 152; and one match by injury default at 138.

Westby forfeited its match at 220; there were double forfeits at 195 and 285; and Nekoosa/Assumption/Port Edwards forfeited two additional matches at 160 and 170. Westby won two matches by fall at 120 and 145; and won one match by decision at 126.

In Round 5, Lancaster defeated Westby 54-18. Westby forfeited at four weights 182, 195, 220 and 285. Lancaster had a fully loaded team with no forfeited weights. Westby won one match by fall at 120; two matches by decision at 113 and 138; and one match by injury default at 145.

138—Austin Mowery defeated Logan Schneider by decision 6-2.

Westby traveled to West Salem where they came up short losing 38-21. The match started out with a double forfeit at 285 pounds. Westby also forfeited at weights 195 and 220.

The Norsemen pulled out two pins; at 152, Ryan Knight pinned Joe Hess in 3:42 and at 182, Conor Vatland pinned Teegan Hansen in 1:40. Westby also picked up wins at 113, Logan Turben defeated Wyatt Wolfe by decision 14-7; at 132, Dakota Bakkestuen defeated Adam Rogge by decision 5-2; and at 170, Justin Erdman defeated Nathanael Wiggins in a sudden victory match 15-10.

Westby hosted rival Viroqua on Tuesday, Jan. 16, before a short break returning to action on Jan. 25 at Arcadia.
