Wrestling: Justin Erdman

Justin Erdman (Westby) won by a 5-2 decision over Joshua Ouellette (Wausau West) at Bi-State in the consolation round.

Westby participated in the La Crosse Center Bi-State Classic over the holiday break on Dec. 28-29.

No Norsemen wrestlers survived long enough to wrestle on the second day of the tournament and Westby forfeited four matches at 113, 195, 220 and 285.

106, Trevor Lemke (10-7) made it to the fourth consolation round before being pinned by Matt Rogge of Prairie du Chien.

120, Dallas Geier (6-6) was defeated in the second consolation round by Simon Baity of Marshfield.

126, Dakota Bakkestuen (9-7) was pinned in the fourth consolation round by Bjorn Otterness of Goodhue.

132, John Lucas (5-3) fell in the second round to Riley Koop of Lewiston-Altura/Rushford-Peterson.

138, Austin Mowery (14-9) fell in the fourth consolation round to Xavier Judge of Bloomington Kennedy/Jefferson.

145, Ryan Knight (14-9) lost 2-1 in the third consolation round to David Hayes of Sparta.

152, Bjorn Leum (6-8) fell in the second consolation round to Tyler Reuter of Cuba City/Benton/Southwestern.

160, Justin Erdman (7-11) was pinned in in the third consolation round by Isaac Grams of Bloomington Kennedy/Jefferson.

170, Conor Vatland (12-8) lost 4-1 in the third consolation round to Peter Swanson of Eastview.

182: Jack Lipski (2-9) was pinned by Connor Von Haden (Tomah) in the second consolation round.

Rob Kirner the Westby Varsity Wrestling Head Coach said the Bi-State classic features many talented wrestlers from Wisconsin and surrounding states. He said Westby wrestlers did not have their best showing and need to work harder as the season progresses.

Westby travels to Black River Falls on Jan. 5 and to West Salem on Jan 9, for a pair of Coulee Conference matches.
