La Crosse Police Lt Brian Thomson

Today's court appearance for former La Crosse police Lt. Brian Thomson is continued because of "medical reasons," his attorney said.

The state Department of Justice on Oct. 23 will file charges against Thomson, who resigned Aug. 13 after authorities caught him stealing fake drugs in a sting set up by his department, Chief Ron Tischer said.

The department audited its evidence room in the wake of Thomson's arrest and uncovered “a number” of drug items officials believe were tampered with, Tischer said. Some were tested at the state Crime Laboratory.

Tischer said police planned to work with prosecutors to ensure cases that involve tampered evidence are handled in the “most appropriate manner.” Defense attorneys representing clients in affected cases were notified by the district attorney’s office.

Brian is a very decent human being who has some personal issues that swayed his judgement.
Give him a second chance, he did when he gave me a warning for not carrying enough weed when he busted me.
