Gundersen Health System will open its Flu Shot Clinics in Onalaska and La Crosse Monday, Oct. 15.
The Flu Shot Clinics will be held on Gundersen’s La Crosse Campus on Level 3 of the Main Clinic and in the Lower Level of the Gundersen Onalaska Clinic.
Both sites will be open Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through Nov. 21. No appointments are needed.
This year, the FluMist (nasal spray) will be available at the La Crosse and Onalaska Flu Shot Clinics to healthy patients 2 through 49 years of age upon request. High dosage flu shots will be available to patients 65 years of age and older.
Flu shots are also available for anyone 2 years old and older at ExpressCare clinics, located in the Village Shopping Center and in Crossing Meadows Shopping Center in Onalaska. Gundersen’s clinics throughout the area are also offering the flu vaccine. Also, Cass Street Pharmacy will offer flu shots for anyone 6 years old and older.
Patients can already receive their flu shots at their regularly scheduled appointments, and hospitalized patients are offered vaccination against influenza prior to discharge.
All other area Gundersen medical clinics will offer flu shots for all ages by appointment during regular business hours.
It is especially important for people who are considered at high risk for problems with the flu to be vaccinated including:
- Children between 6 and 23 months of age
- Those age 65 and over
- Pregnant women in their second and third trimester
- People with health conditions such as heart or lung problems, kidney disease, cystic fibrosis, asthma, etc.
- Residents of long-term care facilities
- Healthcare workers
