HOKAH -- MiEnergy Cooperative has been notified of a possible scam.

A member contacted the cooperative today about a man who stopped at a rural Hokah claiming to be from an electric utility (not MiEnergy) and asking to see a copy of the members electric bill.

This situation is similar to one reported by the cooperative two weeks ago in rural Winona. In that instance, the person claimed to be from MiEnergy, wanting to see a bill and offering a rebate or credit of 11 percent.

Members can contact the cooperative at 1-800-432-2285 at any time to verify the identity of a MiEnergy employee.
