Several years ago, I wrote a letter to the editor in support of Rep. Greg Davids, R-Preston, entitled, "Experience matters." Because of Greg’s wealth of experience, he has advanced in rank at St. Paul to become the chair of the House Tax Committee.

We all know the old saw about death and taxes. The Tax Foundation ranks Minnesota number 43 of the 50 states in terms of our tax structure. As a consequence, Minnesota is losing businesses and high incomes to higher ranking states such as Texas and Florida.

Greg Davids hasn’t been the only voice for fiscal responsibility but given his committee status, he has often locked horns with Gov. Mark Dayton, who apparently never saw a spending bill he didn’t like.

If you like the fact that Greg has become the face of tax reduction at St. Paul and that he is also a go-to “ball carrier” for greater Minnesota, I suggest we return him so he can get on with his job. And while you’re at it, help him out with a Republican governor, Jeff Johnson.
