Gay Ann Gardipee died peacefully Thursday, March 8, 2018, at River Pines, Altoona, Wis.
Gay was born July 25, 1940, in Black River Falls. She graduated from Black River Falls High School in 1958. Following high school, she attended St. Theresa’s College, Winona, Minn., and earned a degree in education in 1962. She worked for several years as a kindergarten teacher, Head Start instructor and taught in the Montessori system in Madison, Wis., and Green Bay, Wis. She also spent summers employed as a counselor and assistant program director in Rosholt, Wis., serving youth with disabilities. In addition, she worked with junior and senior high school music clinic students in Madison. Her career embodied her passions in life, helping young people and music.
She will be lovingly remembered by her siblings, extended family of nieces, nephews, brother-in-laws and many friends. She is survived by sisters, Judy McLouth, (Mac) Coco Beach, Fla., Suzanne Moore, (Brian) Milwaukee; and her brothers, Richard Gardipee, Madison and George Gardipee, Black River Falls. She is preceded in death by her parents, Louie and Inez Gardipee; and her sister, Joni Meyer, (Edward, Jr.), Green Bay.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, at Guardian Angel’s Catholic Parish, 507 Main St., Black River Falls, with Father George and Father Emmanuel officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Black River Falls.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of services Wednesday at the church.
There will also be an ecumenical service to celebrate her life at River Pines, Altoona. This will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 21. River Pines is part of Grace Lutheran Communities and is a long-term senior care center. Gay has been a vibrant and beloved member of this organization for many years. Location: 206 N.
