On Saturday, animals and people alike packed into the Jackson County Fair grounds to either sell or buy a new animal at the Fall Small Animal Auction hosted by the Jackson County Small Animal group.

The selection ranged from goats, chickens and rabbits giving auctioneers plenty to choose from.

“We had around 250 animals come through,” Margaret Burnett who helps run the auction said.

Some fast-paced selling and excited crowds showed up to meet all the animals that came through.

Burnett said it was a bit smaller than usual this time, but there were a lot of other events in the area.

A smaller crowd was still one full of energy ready to buy and sell some animals.

The small animal auction is held twice a year, once in April and once in September.

Burnett said the best way to get involved next year is to just show up.
