An Elroy man faces child pornography charges after police say he was in possession of 12 images depicting children being abused.
TJ Nels Steinmetz, 43, is charged with 12 counts of possession of child pornography. He faces up to 25 years imprisonment for each charge.
According to the criminal complaint, a Juneau County detective received a cyber tip regarding an email account that uploaded two images of potential child pornography. A search warrant was subsequently executed of a residence in Elroy.
The search yielded a 64 gigabyte flash drive, sim card, a cell phone and digital camcorder with a four gigabyte flash drive.
The 64 gigabyte flash drive contained multiple images and videos. The detective reported “a lot of these images were of child erotica.”
Twelve images were found to be child pornography depicting victims being abused.
Steinmetz is currently in the Juneau County Jail. His initial appearance in court is scheduled for Nov. 7.
