Five members of the 2018 Tomah High School girls golf team have earned academic all-state recognition from the Golf Coaches Association of Wisconsin.

Sarah Peterson and Jayda Zhu won high honors, while Abby Sherwood, Madeline Adler and Josie Mathison won honors.

Student-athletes are nominated by GCAW member coaches if they meet the following criteria:

  • A cumulative grade point average of at least 3.25.
  • Participation in at least 75 percent of their team’s varsity matches.
  • Are at least a sophomore in high school.

Statewide, the average cumulative GPA of this year’s honorees is 3.794.

An academic team award honoring high school teams with the highest cumulative GPA is also given. The girls team award will be announced in March.
