Lillian F. Bolton, 101, of La Crosse died Monday, Dec. 11, 2017, at the Bethany-Riverside Care Center.
She was born Dec. 26, 1915, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Wladislaw “Ladis” and Lillian (Schugardt) Kinder. Lillian had worked in payroll at Swanson Blue Star in Council Bluffs. She moved to California and began working as a bookkeeper for the William Thompson Vitamin Company, located in the old Walt Disney studios. It was at the vitamin company that Lillian met her dear friend, Elsa Holdstock. Lillian told Elsa that if she wanted a raise she had to be brave and go ask the boss, and she got the raise, as small as it was. Lillian then went to work as a bookkeeper at the Disneyland theme park. She moved back to Council Bluffs and worked in bookkeeping at Creighton University Health Center, where she worked for 13 years, until retiring in 1980. Lillian loved to knit and watch the Green Bay Packers. She was a very guarded, independent woman, who took a lot of joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by a son, Russell (Diane) Bolton of Stoddard; two grandchildren, Erik Bolton and Christine (Jason) Vernier; and three great-grandchildren, Zachary, Elizabeth and Jacob Vernier.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ladis and Lillian Kinder; four brothers, Grant, Victor, Frederick and Edgar; and one sister, Alice.
Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 23, at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral & Cremation Services of La Crosse. Pastor Ted Dewald will officiate. Burial will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Hokah, Minn. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the funeral home. Online guestbook is available at www.schumacher-kish.com.
