Roland Lander, 77, of Viroqua passed away Monday, Oct. 13, 2017, at Sannes Nursing Home in Soldiers Grove.
He is survived by his loving wife, Doris; two children, Christina and Arthur; one brother, Fred; four loving grandchildren, Jordan (John) McGuire, Keasha (Tray) Speidel, Tyler Roland Lander, Cameron Lander; and two beautiful great-granddaughters, Neveah and Tinnly Speidel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.
He was a accomplished horsemen in the Chicago area, and a Huntmaster of the Wayne-DuPage Hunt. His love of horses trickled down to his children and granddaughter, Keasha, with his beautiful daughter being a riding instructor for young children for many years. He cherished the beautiful coulee region. He was a past president of the Kickapoo School Board, Co-Founder of the Viola Farmer and Merchants Organization, Past-Chairman of the Viola Development Board. He was also an early supporter of the VMH Hospice Program.
A celebration of Roland’s life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, at The Rooted Spoon in downtown Viroqua. The family suggests memorials to the Vernon Memorial Hospice Foundation. Online condolences may be left at www.thorsonfuneralhome.com.
