A Ferryville man received minor injuries in a single-vehicle rollover crash Nov. 2 on State Hwy. 35 at Ghelf Road in the town of Wheatland.
At 6:05 a.m., the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office 911 communication center received a 911 call reporting a single-vehicle rollover. The caller was not able to locate anyone around the vehicle and it wasn’t known if there was anyone with injuries. Emergency services arrived and searched the area and did not locate any victims. Later, contact was made with 28-year-old Jesse E. Peck. According to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office, he reported he was traveling south on State Hwy. 35 when he swerved to avoid striking a deer. He went off the right side of the road and overcorrected back onto the highway and skidded back off the right side of the road and down an embankment. The vehicle traveled down the embankment, striking a culvert and several trees before coming to rest on its roof. Peck was able to get out of the vehicle on his own and walked to a friend’s house. He reported only minor injuries.
The Wheatland Fire, Wheatland First Responders and Gundersen Tri-State Ambulance assisted at the scene. The accident remains under investigation.
