Our annual Friends of the Library Fiber Faire Silent Auction begins next week! Stop by the library now and look at the beautiful items that have been handmade and donated to the event. Enjoy looking at blankets, toys, bags, clothing, seasonal décor items, wood carved items and more! The bidding begins Tuesday, Oct. 16, and will continue through Monday, Oct. 29. People receiving the winning bids will be notified by phone Tuesday, Oct. 30. All funds raised from the auction will be used by the organization to support special purchases for the library.

Besides the Fiber Faire, members of the Friends are also getting ready for their annual book sale. The event will take place Nov. 13-15 in the open space that connects the library to Western Technical College. The sale hours will be daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. If you have items you would like to donate to the sale, feel free to drop them off now. We do not accept textbooks, encyclopedias, VHS tapes, music cassettes or books on cassettes. The sale is an important fundraising event for the organization.

Our first official meeting of our new grant funded Code Club will be held Monday, Oct. 15. The club is an opportunity for youth ages 8-18 to meet at the library Monday nights from 5:30-7 to code! The software will teach the participants how to code in four different languages which will enable them to create games, apps and websites. If you missed the informational meeting earlier this week, please plan on stopping by on Monday to get registered. The club will be facilitated by librarian Anna Rodriguez.

Two popular events are happening at the library next week for youth. On Thursday, Oct. 18, we will be hosting our monthly dance party at 10:30 a.m. Intended for youth up to age 6 we spend 30 minutes in our program room dancing to your favorite hits. We add in stuffed animals, hula hoops and other items to make the dancing even better. On Friday, Oct. 18, our annual Fall Festival will be held from 3:45-5 p.m. Activities will be seasonal in nature and are intended for youth between 6-14. Activities will be taking place throughout the children’s department and inside our program room. We hope you can join us!

This Saturday will be the final time we will be at the Farmers Market for the season. This month our activities booth will feature pumpkins to paint! The pumpkins were all donated by Tim Lee and the entire Lee family. Thank them for their donation and stop by and paint a pumpkin with us.
